Description

This guided wildflower walk will take us through fields, forest, and river floodplain. Habitat variety will also give us wildflower variety. This trail passes a few historic structures, so we will talk a bit about the history of the area. The leisurely hike will be on trail, with modest hills, but there are muddy places so wear appropriate shoes. Directions: Meet at the Piper Cox House parking lot. The turn for this parking lot is the second right after you enter the park right after the visitor center parking lot. The address is 6101 Cole Mill Rd, Durham, NC 27705. Parking can be tight on a Sunday so arrive early in case you have to park farther up the road. This hike will take approximately two hours (sometimes less, sometimes more). Please feel free to bring water and snacks. Wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothing and shoes. Well-behaved dogs are welcome as long as they are under your control and on a 6 foot leash. COVID-19 guidelines: As this is an outdoor event, masks and vaccination status are not required to attend. Please practice social distancing to keep yourself and others outside of your group safe and healthy. This event is rain or shine. We will contact you if severe weather is expected that would cause us to cancel the hike. If your plans change and you are unable to attend the hike, please contact [email protected] to cancel your registration so that we may offer your spot(s) to our waitlist.
