From Zach of Citizens:
"It’s no secret that the past couple of years have created deep divides in the church. There are a lot of people who have stayed angry and there are a lot who have left angry. We’ve experienced real losses over the past few years but we can't let go of Jesus’ call to love one another. CITIZENS' hope for this new collection of songs is that they would serve as a bridge that provides the space for a person on either side to re-imagine for themselves Jesus’ call to love one another and to turn around and move toward the person on the other side of that bridge again.
This concert is offered in the hope of bringing people together into a room to just be. To be present to God. To be present with each other. Listening, learning, loving. Singing, laughing, grieving, meditating, celebrating. Songs, like the parables of Christ, unlock something in all of us that can lead to deeper personal contemplation. So everything from conviction, to revelation, to even salvation.
We’re calling these nights “Gather Us as You Are One.”
