Description

The Milton and Tamar Maltz Performing Arts Center at Temple–Tifereth Israel is a 1200-seat historic arts and religious venue on the campus of Case Western Reserve University in University Circle. The converted synagogue serves as the main performance venue of the Case Western Reserve music department and holds campus special events. Built in 1924 (and now listed in the National Register of Historic Places), the Temple served as the home synagogue of the Tifereth-Israel. Designed by Boston architect Charles Greco, the original building has an Art Deco flavor and features Byzantine and Romanesque-style motifs. Its majestic golden-hued dome makes it one of Cleveland’s most distinctive landmarks. The recently completed 2021 renovation and expansion includes the addition of two new stages, a dance practice room, shops for scenery and costumes along with inviting lobbies and public spaces. Parking is free in the lot located on your left as you approach the building from East 105th Street. The gate should be raised when you arrive. The tour will start at 11 am and participants should convene at the main front entrance of the historic Temple building. REGISTRATION for the tour IS OPEN from March 6th to the 14th, 2023
