Description

Advanced CCPT Training: Games, Themes, Stages, and Different Ages (6 CEs) Ready to go deeper with your CCPT Skills? Ready to incorporate games in your CCPT sessions? Need practice working with the littles, or the pre-teens?Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) is a dynamic Play Therapy modality which involves many skills and modification options for varying ages. Even after completing my certification and using it for 8 years I am still learning, developing, and gaining greater appreciation for what this model offers children. The purpose of this 6 hr. workshop is to help experienced Child-Centered Play Therapists go deeper with their CCPT skills, understanding, and ability to utilize this modality with different ages. In this training we will look at how to integrate games into CCPT while maintaining the integrity of the environment so therapeutic benefits can be gained. We will also spend time going deeper into play therapy themes and stages of play to increase one’s ability to conceptualize how the child is utilizing therapeutic play and the therapeutic relationship for healing, as well as how to accurately document play sessions. We will spend some time on connecting what is happening in the play sessions with treatment plan goals. Lastly we will take some time to increase one’s ability to modify a play therapy room for use with ages 2-4 and ages 10-12 and ways to modify empathic responding to effectively administer CCPT for ages 2-4 and 10-12. Prerequisite: This training is for licenced mental health professionals, or current students studying to become licensed in a mental health field. It is required that participants have had a 2-day basic workshop in CCPT and have received at least 3 months of supervised experience specific to CCPT. After registration you will receive an email requesting the dates of the CCPT training you attended, and the name of the supervisor who provided 8 hrs of CCPT specific supervision. This training will begin with participants sharing about their training and experience in CCPT as this will be the foundation we will build on. In the spirit of CCPT, hands-on, experiential learning will abound in this training. We will utilize role play, lecture, and handouts to include multiple learning styles and provide ample practice. Space will be limited to a small number of participants in order to provide effective coaching. Learning ObjectivesFollowing this workshop, participants will be able to: 1) Identify therapeutic value of cheating in game play during Child-Centered Play Therapy. 2) Practice empathic responses to children during game play in Child-Centered Play Therapy. 3) Identify play themes in Child-Centered Play Therapy to inform progress. 4) Determine stages of play in Child-Centered Play Therapy to inform progress and termination. 5) Design or adapt a Play Therapy room for use with clients ages 2-4, and older 10-14 year old clients. 6) Demonstrate an ability to adapt empathic responding for clients aged 2-4, and older clients aged 10-14. _________________________________________________________ 6 Continuing Education Hours Available.
