Description
Video Game Amateurs (VGA) and Northend Food Hall have partnered to bring together talented and diverse women from multiple industries to celebrate Women's History Month. Our event sponsor, Bronx Brewery, will be bringing in rare brews for everyone while Harlem Public and La Chula prepare amazing food to enjoy as we highlight the fully women lead experience. Of course, VGA will be providing retro and current gaming systems for all of our game playing needs and will be holding a Mario Kart tournament. Our highlighted partner vendor Nailcon Media, a digital beauty lifestyle platform centered around nail culture & community, will be providing complimentary express manicures along with hand massages for attendees to enjoy. To bring in the celebration, we have local resident DJ's Heavy Hitter Dana Lu and Dada Coz of the Afuego Party. REDInFamy founder of GEEK GAME TYTE will be moderating a panel discussing Breaking Barriers and Celebrating Success: Equity and Inclusion with our guest panelists. VGA's own content strategist Jess Morales, Aziza Brown founder of the Dynamik Focus esports team, Mia 'NerdyNursey' Norman-Owens twitch streamer with a focus on esports health, Rurouni Aly cosplayer and anime enthusiast and Anya Combs former Director of Games at Kickstarter and freelance musician. Sweet Escape Treats will be providing safe wellness baked goods to attendees. The Crafter Hours will be selling artwork and handmade goods. Chef Curly Girl will be onsite offering some of her homemade sofrito amongst other sauces to take home. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to Girls Who Code, an nonprofit organization that is dedicated to closing the gender gap in technology and computer science. Their mission is to inspire more girls to become computer scientists and engineers. We will also be doing several giveaways! At VGA we wear the word Amateur like a badge of honor. Amateur is derived from the latin word amātor, meaning “to love”, and we believe in encouraging people to do what they love. We can't wait to celebrate this together at the Northend Food Hall located at 4300 Broadway, New York, NY 10033. This is an inclusive and event and ALL ages are welcome.
