Description

Join us for a fun day of volunteering to celebrate Earth Month! The Elliott Street Playground in Morristown, NJ, has recreational equipment for both kids and adults and a community garden, but it has lost a significant number of trees due to the emerald ash borer and invasive species. Volunteers will remove invasive plants, plant native trees and shrubs, and establish a passive garden area behind the park's tennis court. The trees and shrubs planted will follow best practices established by the Morristown Shade Tree Commission, including being from at least five-gallon pots, having deer protection, and being watered weekly for the first year. Meeting Point: Behind the tennis court near the rear of the park. Please remember to: Wear Sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots with good traction. Long pants and long-sleeved shirts to protect your skin from scratches and insect bites. Layers of clothing appropriate for the weather conditions. A hat or cap to protect your head and face from the sun. Bring A reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. Sunscreen and bug spray Snacks if you're a snack-y person A positive attitude If you registered for the event and have to cancel, please get in touch with [email protected] We look forward to seeing you there!
