He creates nostalgia invoking, heartfelt, danceable electronic tunes reminiscent of a simpler time. After writing and performing in various guitar driven projects in the early 2000’s Cotton returned to his DIY roots of making cassette recordings in his parents basement with the album Crooked House followed by a live performance at The Association of Visual Arts CAPTURE event in Chattanooga, TN. Since then NTYJ has gone on to release 5 additional Eps and has collaborated with a variety of musicians including Cartinglee and Never Say No Mary. In 2018 he released Dark. In summer of 2022 he released the album A Safe Place which was written and recorded from 2018 - 2021 NTYJ performs both solo and as a trio and has narrative projections to accompany the musical performance.
