Participants will discover the art and process of Pysanky Easter Eggs as we explore this fun wax-resist method. Pysanky eggs are also referred to as Ukranian Eggs. We will be using a kistka (a beeswax filled tool warmed over a tealight) to draw designs on real (empty) eggs between bathing them in bright colored dyes. Participants may decorate their eggs with traditional designs or they may create their own design. Everyone will have the opportunity to take home up to two eggs with stands for display. Information about the history, meanings of the colors and symbols of this Ukrainian art will be shared during the workshop. These dyes do stain, so please dress accordingly. Aprons and gloves will be available. Since this process includes hot beeswax, we request that participants are over 16 years old.
