Are you a female identifying individual interested in becoming a ski patroller and want to learn what the job is all about? Come join us for a day at Brian Head Resort to learn about the job and what it entails. There will be female patrollers from different resorts in Utah to share about their experiences. The day will consist of skiing/snowboarding, toboggan handling, observing operations, networking and fun! Must be an advanced skier/snowboarder to participate. Limited to 20 participants. Cost includes lift ticket for the day! Timeline 9:00 a.m. – Registration/ check-in. Receive day ticket. (Meet outside the Giant Steps Ski Patrol office to the right of Giant Steps Lodge) 9:45 am – Morning briefing in the base lodge 10:00 am – Meet patrol team and get into groups 10:30 am – Mountain setup, safety, orientation and tour 12:00 pm – Lunch 1:00 pm – Toboggan clinic 2:30 pm – Medical Scenarios 3:45 pm – Debrief of the day with facilitators 4:10 pm – Mountain sweep 5:00 pm – End of the day wrapup Registration starts promptly at 9:00 am by the ticket office where participants will receive their day ticket. We will then all load the gondola and head to the base lodge where we will have our morning briefing and discuss the agenda for the day. Around 10:00 am we will meet the patrol team and get in our groups with assigned facilitators. To start off the day, we will go over mountain safety and hill setup. We will then go over all the runs and take a tour of the mountain where we will get to see where the different patrol shacks are located. Lunch will be at noon and is not provided so please pack a lunch and snacks. After lunch, we will do some toboggan training where participants will be able to take turns handling the toboggan and being a patient and then around 2:30 pm, we will go over different medical scenarios and practice them. At 3:45 we will debrief the day and then do sweep with the patrol team and then head back to the village to wrap up the day. Things to Bring Skiing/Snowboarding Gear A backpack with extra layers and an extra pair of gloves A water bottle Lunch and snacks (Lunch will not be included) Sunscreen Goggles and a helmet Additional Information *Please be sure to eat a good breakfast and stay hydrated, as this will be an active day.
