In this class – Introduction to Abstract Acrylic Painting - we will start with an explanation of the products and tools. We will discuss composition, values, color mixing and then take some time to practice some mark making. Then we will turn up t he music and the fun begins! You will be working on two pieces of watercolor paper 12x18 and 12x9. Painting two pieces at the same time allows you to switch off, giving paints a chance to dry, as well as gives you a new look. We will go step by step with creating a background, adding your marks and shapes. When the class is done, you will have 2 new pieces of original art that may be matted, framed, or turned into other fun items like bookmarks or notecards. (You may do this yourself, or I will do this for you and have your finished products available within a week after the class.) I am so excited to have you paint with me. Water will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own snacks or drinks for breaks. Please plan to arrive 10 minutes early. Plan to carpool if you are coming with friends. Dress comfortably in clothes that you wont mind getting paint or ink on (it probably wont come out). I recommend short or close-fitting sleeves so you don't mess up your artwork. And bring an apron if that makes you more comfortable.
