Description
The focus of the conference is to help people better understand the potential issues of aging in America. This conference will also allow everyone; professionals, family, and friends, to have a better understanding of options available to individuals as they age. Speakers: Dr. Steve Neucks Dr. Neucks went to college at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana and to St. Louis University in Missouri for Medical School. He completed both an Internal Medicine residency and a Rheumatology fellowship at St. Louis University as well. He then moved to Indianapolis for his private practice of Rheumatology. Chronic pain has been a special interest of Dr. Neucks and he is board certified in pain management. He participates with the Good News Mission as a volunteer physician and is a volunteer faculty for St. Vincent’s Internal Medicine Residency Program and Community Hospital Family Practice Training Program. He currently is in private practice with Rehabilitation Associates of Indiana in Indianapolis. Elizabeth Sullard She been in home care/health for a decade and is a licensed practical nurse (LPN), Dementia Certified Practitioner, and a Community Educator for the Alzheimer's Association. She has been with Synergy for 3 years and is currently the Client Care Manager and has recently been promoted and will be their Regional Community Liaison starting 2/1. Danna Williamson Danna Williamson is currently serving as a Faith Community Nurse in the Carle Faith Community Health Department. She has been an RN for 18 years and has served in various roles including Medical Surgical Nursing and Clinical Education. Danna also enjoys teaching nursing students for Parkland Community College. Danna has been a Faith Community Nurse for over 10 years in several parishes in her rural community. In her role she is able to share her knowledge with the Faith Community Network as she supports and encourages their health and wellness ministry work. In this role Danna also has the opportunity to educate and encourage Faith Community Nurses and members of the communities in advance care directives planning. Jermaine Raymer Jermaine is the Program Director of the Senior Resource Center and the Data and Grants Manager at Family Service in Champaign, Illinois. Before that, he was the Program Director for the Center for Independent Living at PACE, Inc. He is on the Board of Trustees at the Champaign Urbana Mass Transit District and operates the Raymer Consulting group. Avi Laird She is currently at Family Service and is the Counseling and IT Manager. This covers advocacy, counseling, data, grants, management over 3 counties (so far), IT and whatever else is asked of her. She is excited to be able to be participating with the Senior Resource Center (SRC) and able to use and expand her knowledge and experience. She has been asked to bring her Low Vision experience here and SRC has started a new Low Vision group and working others to start the Passport Tours allowing clients to travel virtually around the world and give them tiny treasures to keep as mementos. Her previous occupation; consists of working at a Center for Independent Living (CIL) where she works teaches those with Vision Impairment and / or blindness with common and/or adaptive technologies, helping those in facilities move to independent living spaces, supervising volunteers, attending and overseeing public events, and representing those who would not otherwise be heard in emergency planning.
