We're Giving Away MONEY 💵. Beginning in October, we'll be giving out $2,000 a month in prizes for 6 months. That's $12,000! It's going to be a party 🥳🍾. Prizes 🏆:1st - $1,0002nd - $5003rd - $250Freestyle Cypher - $250Second Mondays 👩🏿‍🎤🧑🏿‍🎨🧜🏿‍♂️:Second Mondays is a multi-disciplinary open mic for Black people to share and enjoy incredible art. The stage welcomes comedy, poetry, singing, rapping, instrumentalists, and more! It's what we at Gold Beams have been doing for three years. And... it's fun AF! All ages welcomed 🤰🏿👶🏿👩🏿‍👱🏿‍♂️🧑🏿‍🦱👨🏿‍🦰👩🏿‍🦰🧑🏿‍🦰🧑🏿‍🦳👨🏿‍🦳 Venue - Oakstop 🏡:The event is hosted at the new Oakstop location on 2323 Broadway in downtown Oakland.Oakstop is a Black owned and operated business. They provide workspace and venue rentals in locations throughout the Bay Area.Artists 👩🏿‍🎤🧑🏿‍🎤👨🏿‍🎤:The Second Mondays open mic is open to Black creatives of various disciplines. Our stage is home to Black creatives.That includes comedians, musicians, poets, actors performing monologues, dance, etc.We will alternate between sign up and (free) raffle ticket holders when calling artists to perform.The open mic list opens with the doors at 6 pmArtists have 5 minutes to perform on stage.Artist must only perform one piece.If you have instrumentals, be ready to airdrop them.Be prepared to perform acapella if there are issues sending your instrumentals.Your art must be respectful to the people in the space. To our community.Besides our two recent slot winners, if you have placed at a Second Mondays event in the past, YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO perform.Guests 👩🏿‍🦱🧑🏿‍🦱👨🏿‍🦱:People come to Second Mondays to: Network with creatives 🤝. Located in the heart of Downtown Oakland, the Kapor Center’s work is focused at the intersection of racial justice and technology. The Kapor Center works to remove barriers to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education and tech careers for underrepresented people of color. The organization supports at every stage, from K-12 education to the workplace with education programs, advocacy, and social impact investing.
