We heard y’all been waiting for a party?! Well, let’s hear it for the ladies! 💖 We’re bringing back our series, “She Makes Noise” to celebrate Women’s History Month. We will be shining a light on the diverse and talented female artists from NC taking the scene by storm! There are significant disparities between female artists and male artists in the electronic music scene, both in terms of representation and recognition. Despite the fact that women have been making significant contributions to electronic music for decades, they are still vastly underrepresented in this genre. One of the main issues is the lack of visibility and opportunities for female artists, who often struggle to break through the male-dominated industry. In addition to this, there are also significant gender biases that can make it more difficult for female artists to receive recognition for their work. For example, many festivals and clubs still have heavily male-dominated lineups, which perpetuates the idea that electronic music is a "man's world."
