Happy to serve our Veterans and First Responders (HEROES) in the Brevard County and Indian River County and surrounding regions wit a day of FREE kayak fishing. https://www.ircgov.com/departments/general_services/parks/Dale_Wimbrow.htm Targeted fish are sea trout, snook, reds, maybe an occasional tarpon. This event will be held at Dale Wimbrow Park, Sebastian, Florida. Launch location for kayaks is a Dale Wimbrow Park and Boat Ramp. Parking will be first come serve. Kayakers could possibly have to travel a good distance with their kayaks and gear if launch location is full. There is designated trailer parking, please do not park in the trailer areas if you do not have a trailer. Expect to see our Heroes On the Water banner. This is a public launch and a small turn around area, so please be considerate. HOW TO GET THERE: Travel on I95 (North or South) take Exit 156 (Fellsmere and Sebastian exit). Merge onto FL-512 (Fellsmere Exit). Travel EAST on FL-512 (Sebastian Road) for 3.8 miles. At the intersection of FL-512 (Sebastian) and FL-505 (Roseland), turn LEFT. Travel on FL-505 (Roseland Rd) for 2.1 miles. At the intersection of Roseland and Airport Dr turn LEFT. If you need other directions or assistance, Facebook Messenger our staff for directions. Send your questions through Facebook Messenger or email at [email protected] RULES: HOW events are *** DRUG and ALCOHOL FREE *** HOW events are *** Family Friendly*** For SAFETY, Heroes, guests ,and volunteers are NOT allowed to be on/in a kayak(s) during the event without a designated HOW guide and the required safety equipment. You MUST wear your personal floatation device (PFD) the entire time while you are on/in the kayak. Food and drinks will be provided; however, you are welcome to bring your own snack/food/drinks if you have special needs/preferences. Bring a lawn chair or something to sit on since many of our locations are primitive and may not have a place to sit. As a precaution, we suggest you bring a dry set of clothing, since this is water related event, and we never know about the weather & tides. Please be on time, since we can never tell the weather, or the tides could change our event. If you decide not to attend, please let us know as soon as possible. We want to ensure we provide a kayak to others who may be waiting. PADDLE. FISH.
