Pollinator enthusiast Earl Nickel will shine a light on some of our more intriguing California native caterpillars. He’ll explain why these leaf munching guys are important to our local ecology and reveal some of the fascinating defense mechanisms they employ to keep predators at bay in your garden and how you can help ensure their success. Earl is an Oakland-based horticulturist, photographer, and writer. He writes regularly for the San Francisco Chronicle, has written feature articles for Pacific Horticulture magazine, contributes to the Annie's Annuals blog, and writes his weekly gardening blog; all while maintaining an amazing ‘one-of-everything' garden.
