On Saturday, April 15, 2023, Stones River National Battlefield and our partners want to kick-off National Park Week by bringing the residents of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County together for a morning dedicated to properly managing the lands and waterways that are a critical part of life in in our community. We will join thousands of volunteers across the nation in celebrating the 27th year of the American Battlefield Trust's Park Day by working to preserve and improve our public lands. We will remove invasive exotic plants and trash from Fortress Rosecrans, Old Fort Park and the Lytle Creek Greenway. In the process, we will improve the condition of the battlefield and the Stones River watershed. The plans are in place, now we need you, the public to join us. Registration is required and you can sign-up for an invasive plant removal or trash pick-up team. Volunteers under 14 years old may not participate in invasive plant removal. We will need groups of six or more volunteers to commit one person per every 6-8 volunteers to attend one of our Squad Boss training sessions and learn how to lead their fellow volunteers in the day's work. If you are signing up with group, please put the group name in the "Company" field. Volunteers should bring work gloves and wear long sleeved shirts, work pants, and closed toe shoes.
