Description
Cult Cartel Director: Paul Davis - United States - Runtime: 02:00:00 - Featured Films Filmed inside the infamous town of COLORADO CITY and Palm Beach County, Cult Cartel is the story of a rescue mission. This film actually employed many of those who have managed to escape or been banished from the community with little education, no family support, or understanding of the outside world. For years they have been struggling to rebuild or rather begin their lives. The film empowers them to finally have a voice and enlighten those that have so long ignored their plight. Starring Donny Most, Jud Tylor, Young Barlow, Winsor Harmon, Noelle Wheeler, Britt George, Craig Matthew and special appearance by News Reporter Mike Watkiss. Many local Palm Beach residents/supporters have roles, cameos and walk-on parts. And our supporting film crew were students from G-Star in West Palm Beach. Written and Directed by London transplant Paul Davis. This is his second film. His first, "Cathedral Canyon" won "Audience Choice for Best Feature Film" at the Palm Beach Intl Film Festival. Director Statement "The last few years I have been working with a non-profit called MoviesMakingADifference that had this rather cool idea of making feature films to dramatize and highlight social ills and then donate the profits back to the victims or where it could do the most good. The first one was a story based on a crazed religious cult in Arizona but which also had outposts around the country and in Canada and Mexico. I did a lot of research with reporters and the damage this cult had done, and continued to do, and it was just shocking. Perhaps all the more so because, despite these reporters' best efforts, you rarely read about it in the media. I wrote the script and they raised a little money to make it. It was called 'Cathedral Canyon', I directed it and it really came out rather well. Everyone involved put a lot of good work into it. Next thing we knew, the film got into the Palm Beach International Film Festival in 2014 and won the 'Audience Choice Award'. It also attracted a huge donor base to the non profit and soon there was talk of a sequel; Cult Cartel The amazing thing about making this film was that we got to shoot in the actual twin towns of Colorado City/Hildale, or the Creek as residents refer to it, that inspired the first film. It was really extraordinary. The whole area is so beautiful but it's a township that had been essentially cut off from the rest of America for decades. More than that, some of the people who had suffered greatly under that Cult were brave enough and determined enough to play parts in the film. I was honored to be a part of the whole production with them.
