Join Area 1 Zontians for fellowship, learn about ZI and District 5 activities, as well as a panel discussion on support services available in northwest Ohio for victims of domestic violence. Participants will be invited to join a letter-writing advocacy campaign to increase state funding for domestic violence shelters and community programs. 8:30 – 9 a.m. Registration/Coffee and tea 9 – 11 a.m. Zonta International and District 5 Lt. Govenor Kimm Hrdlicka-Tigges and the District 5 officers 11:15 –11:45 a.m. Luncheon 11:45 a.m. – noon CEDAW in Toledo anniversary presentation 12:15 – 1:30 p.m. Domestic Violence: 101 Learn about the domestic violence support services in northwest Ohio and public policy initiatives in Ohio that advance the principles that all people have the right to a oppression and violence-free life. Guest speakers: Diedre Lashley, executive director, Bethany House Domestic Violence Shelter; Rachel Gardner, chief operating officer of the YWCA of Northwest Ohio’s shelter for women and families affected by domestic violence; Mary O’Dougherty, executive director, Ohio Domestic Violence Network 1:30 – 2 p.m. Service project Letter-writing campaign advocating for increased state funding for domestic violence shelters and community programs.
