2023-2024 Preparticipation Physical Exam FAQs EKG Testing EKG testing is optional and will be done on site after the physical exam is complete for $25. CISD requires athletes and band to complete an preparticipation physical exam each school year. Physicals are valid after April 1. For example, If you have your child’s physical completed on May 22, 2023 it is valid for the 2023-2024 school year.   Is the pre-participation physical exam the same as a well-check? No, a pre-participation physical exam and an annual well-check serve two separate and distinct purposes. The pre-participation physical exam  is looking at the learner’s appropriateness for athletic/extracurricular participation. An annual well-check is a comprehensive exam provided by your family physician or your pediatrician. It includes a physical exam plus discussions about growth and development, immunizations, mental, social and emotional well being. Can my child's pediatrician or family doctor complete the athletic physical? Yes. Your family doctor or pediatrician can complete the pre-participation physical exam. You should make sure that your doctor is prepared in advance to complete this form in addition to the documentation that is required. Why attend the physicals offered each spring by CHS Sports Medicine? The pre-participation physical evaluations that are offered each spring by CHS Sports Medicine are specifically designed to evaluate learners for the appropriateness of athletic/extracurricular participation.
