Description

A family-friendly day to commemorate and honor the legacy of Lee Elder, who faced incredible challenges and overcame them with skill, grace and determination. Lee broke through the color barrier and changed more lives than he could have ever imagined. And in 1975, he became the first black man to compete in the Masters Tournament held at Augusta National. Please join us for the Lee Elder Challenge at The Playground, at Goat Hill Park. OverviewThe day will include a 3-hole mini-course closest to the pin contest. Raffle tickets available for amazing prizes. Live DJ. Food and drinks for purchase. 100% of proceeds from this event will go towards covering healthcare costs for Lee's widow Sharon, who is battling Alzheimer's, as well as to the Lee Elder Memorial Fund to grow his legacy and expand the reach of golf. And, in our journey to make Lee Elder's name synonymous with that little tournament held out in Augusta, we’ve launched the second edition of the "Thank You, Mr. Elder" capsule – a collection of items we hope would make the man himself proud. These will be available for purchase on site during the event (or 24/7 at linksoul.com). 100% of proceeds will go towards the above cause. Linksoul’s goal has always been to bring people together in the spirit of golf, and to show that this game is far better suited for tearing down barriers than putting them up. Few golfers embodied that spirit more than Lee Elder, who's legacy and spirit will forever be entwined with the soul of golf.
