Event Description | We're involved with tiny computers throughout our daily life: fitness trackers, smartphones, children's toys, and more. Let's take a look at a device that allows us to hook students to interest them in STEM and coding fundamentals - wih the emphasis on FUN. The micro:bit is a fully functioning microcomputer that has a screen, a gyroscope, temperature sensor, light sensor, a microphone, and a speaker. Don't be afraid of the coding part - you can do drag-and-drop programming. We'll make single player apps and games, mutli-player games, and interact with some robots.
Background | From micro:bit's website: We believe that an ability to understand, participate and work in the digital world is vitally important to a young person’s life chances. The BBC micro:bit is designed to excite and appeal to a broad range of young people including those who might have thought tech was not for them.
Skill Level | Beginner (no previous knowledge expected or needed)
