Lacey MakerSpace is hosting "SBIR 101" The Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) program provides seed money to small businesses who are developing cutting edge technologies that may help federal agencies meet their research and development needs. If you are an R&D firm or developing high tech, biomedical research, new materials, or another novel innovation that might be of interest to the federal government, this workshop is for you. The workshop, led by Kate Hoy, SBIR/STTR Program Manager, will include both a high level overview of the program along with a general Q&A where you can get specifics questions answered. The presentation will cover: • What the program is • Who is a good fit • Which federal agencies participate • How to find opportunities Although this seminar will be focused on the selling of novel technology to the federal government, it will also introduce avenues for entrepreneurs interested in learning more about preparing a product for market. After the seminar, sign up for a 20-minute meeting with Kate, where she will review your product/technology/idea and talk about resources available and next steps regarding bringing your concept to government agencies.
