REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED This will be an open climb event where you will receive basic instruction on how to drytool, safety considerations, and the gym rules. Then you'll get to try it out and climb for the rest of the night! Learn more about the gym here! https://theicecoop.org/faq Some of the ice coop rules include: REQUIRED Items (Most items (competition boot, ice tools, gloves) will be provided with the event, however if you have your own gear please bring it! Especially helmets, they are limited. ): Climbing helmet Long pants (if wearing competition boots)Climbing shoes, approach shoes or competitive climbing boots (Rock climbing shoes are NOT available so please bring your own if you have them. However competition boot rentals are included with the event) Ice tools with handle spikes, adzes or hammers removed or thoroughly paddedThin, grippy gloves, like gold gloves. IMPORTANT INFORMATION PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTERING: After registering, please look for a pop up and email from Eventbrite with the link to complete your waiver (this will be through SmartWaiver, not Latino Outdoors). You will also be required to fill out the waiver for the Ice Coop, which you will do at the gym. During the week before the event, you will receive another email with more instructions on preparing for the event. If you cannot attend, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing [email protected] or texting 240-505-6251. Spots for this event are limited. Language Accessibility Disclosure: As a volunteer-led chapter of Latino Outdoors, we rely on the language skill sets of our volunteers and partners. Due to limited capacity and funding, we are not able to provide consistent multilingual, Spanish-language programming, or other Native languages. As an organization, we value transparency and Language Justice, and we want to make sure that our participants are aware of what to expect at each event. The programming for this event will be in English and there will be formal Spanish interpretation integrated into the event. The programming for this event will be: Programming Language: EnglishAvailable Interpretation: EnglishVolunteer Language Proficiency: Modesta McGrath-Martínez - Some Spanish and fluent in English, Marcos Mejia - Fluent in English and SpanishRegardless of your language abilities, you are welcomed at this event and we will do our best to work with you. The intention of this disclosure is to create better transparency on what to expect during your program. About LO’s COVID-19 Guidelines After careful consideration and consultation with LO leaders about the resumption of in-person outings, we have implemented the following measures to allow us to safely gather in person while minimizing the risk of community spread: New policies and procedures 1. All attendees must maintain physical distancing. 2. Leaders and participants will decide together whether or not to wear masks. 3. Anyone who feels sick or has been exposed to someone with COVID-19 should stay home. In the case that someone begins displaying symptoms during an outing, they will be escorted back to their vehicle to go home and rest or separated from others until they can go home. As the pandemic evolves, so will our approach to keeping you safe. We thank you for your patience and flexibility as we manage this, and invite you to check in with us if you have any questions. What you can expect from LO To ensure the number of people present at in-person gatherings does not go beyond what is considered safe by local health guidelines To be given accurate and truthful information about LO outings in the context of COVID-19 Adherence to county level public health department guidelines What LO expects from participants We take safety at our community outings very seriously. We ask participants to self-certify that they do not have symptoms, have not been diagnosed with or had direct contact with a known or suspected COVID-19 case in the past 14 days, and will comply with LO’s safety policies and procedures. Together, we can ensure safe, positive, and meaningful experiences in nature.
