Description

CREATIVE APPROACHES TO COMPUTER SCIENCEIn this interactive talk, Celeste will share innovative ways to incorporate the micro:bit microcontroller into hands-on projects that explore computing, art, and science. Participants will explore ways this transdisciplinary approach broadens participation in computer science and invites learners into creative and collaborative design. There will be hands-on activities with the micro:bit microcontrollers and discussions around in-class and out-of-class implementation. We’re giving away 5 free micro:bit bundles to in-person attendees. Join us for a chance to take one home and keep exploring!TICKET OPTIONSThis event can be attended virtually or in-person. If you choose the in-person option, please register early because space is limited. ABOUT THE PRESENTERCeleste Moreno is a third-year Ph.D. student at the ATLAS Institute at CU Boulder. She is a part of the Creative Communities research group, where she designs and studies creative learning experiences for learners of all ages that combine tools and ideas from multiple disciplines, such as computing, art, and science. She is currently focusing on on designing “computational tinkering” experiences that aim to engage learners in informal learning spaces in creative, social, and interdisciplinary approaches to computing and studying the facilitation practices that make those experiences possible.
