We invite you to join us Rockabilly, James Dean style for an evening of blissful sights, tastes and sounds at the 201 Main Complex in Downtown Salinas, California. This venue is wonderfully located on Main Street, at the key Main and Gabilan corner, the iconic 201 Main Street building features the most beautiful and historic architecture of yesteryear. Built more than a century and a quarter ago this 19th Century architectural gem has served Salinas and Monterey since 1898 in many differing capacities and has provided a wide range of services including banking to the agricultural and residential communities, office and voting amenities, and today it stands proudly as the most iconic structure in the entire county, and this spectacular edifice of the 19th century has become the center of nightlife and family and corporate functions providing the very best in food, libation and entertainment within the Central Valley. Endowed with Romanesque exterior and interior columns, beautiful high ceilings which are graced with cornices, moldings, wood features and lighting from this bygone era some 125 years ago, this unique and historic 27,500 square foot property creates an unmatched elegance and a very special ambiance for all guests. The lower-level vault area has the original bank vaults and steel and gold boxes and because of its historic features was chosen by Hollywood for the famed movie "Bandits" and the phenomenal 1898 architecture of the entire first floor creates a unique time-warp for diners and a special atmosphere to enjoy the great foods and libation proudly served to all guests. Arrive promptly at 5:00 for a Hollywood Style reception at the James Dean Restaurant Main Street entrance.
