Viola Gardens is a landscape firm that specializes in drought-tolerant landscapes, artscaping, edible gardens, hillside restoration, natural building, organic garden care. Please join us for a very special evening filled with local biodynamic wine tasting, conversations from ecology experts, live music, and native plant sale! 4pm | Doors open + guests arrive. Local, organic appetizers will be served. 5pm | Wine tasting guided by Adam Huss from Centralas Wines based in Los Angeles., CA. Each wine at Centralas is crafted with a story and ecological roots. The wines chosen for the tasting will be available by the glass (complementary) and available for purchase by the bottle. 6pm | Viola Gardens staff ecologist, Andy Kleinhesselink , will give a talk on native birds, plants, pollinators, and seed saving in our local area. Andy specializes in ecology and bird watching and will debrief us on the vibrancy of the natural world that surrounds us in our daily lives. 7pm | Larry Santoyo, an acclaimed teacher in permaculture, will host a talk and discussion on the importance and principles of Permaculture. Larry has been a teacher and practitioner of Permaculture Design for the last 30 years. After a career in law enforcement, Santoyo went onto land use planning and was mentored by Permaculture’s founding father, Bill Mollison. Santoyo went on to teach Permaculture with Mollison around the US and Australia. He has taught environmental design at colleges and universities nationwide, including UC Berkeley, UC Santa Cruz, Evergreen College, CSU Northridge, and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He is also the Senior Designer at Earthflow Designs. The firm specializes in planning and design that integrates sustainable principles and biophilia into retreats, resorts, and spas. Larry is Vice President of The Permaculture Institute and a recipient of Permaculture Diploma in the fields of education, community development, site design, community service and research. “Blame no one, expect nothing, get out there and do epic shit.” We will have native and drought tolerant plants and Jessica Viola's book available for purchase. The plant sale will carry on throughout the evening. All plants will be 30-50% off of retail price. ~ We will be closing off the evening with live music performed by local artists ~ Space is limited for this event, please RSVP **PARKING + DIRECTIONS** Parking will be on the 27 (topanga canyon Blvd)— across the street from topanga living cafe. Across the street from Topanga Living Cafe, there is a staircase which leads directly to Happy Trail. Walk down this staircase, then take a right. The stiarcase will have a yellow wreath on it.
