Description
This training is for providers and case managers who work with youth. Participants will learn how to address youth safety concerns, create a space where youth can hold equitable power, and learn how to promote family resiliency that does not undermine the wisdom of youth with the use of restorative practices. Coffee, juice and light refreshments will be available starting at 9am. A certificate of completion will be provided to all participants that complete the session from BHHP . The certificate can be used to apply for CEUs for various disciples such as social work, peer certification and more. About Lehidy Frias: Lehidy is a restorative practitioner that believes the most integral part of solidarity and identity work is community building. Lehidy currently is the director of Restorative Justice RI. Prior to this appointment, Lehidy supported wellness and supervised, supported and led students of color at the Brown Center for Students of Color. Lehidy was the Restorative Practices Specialist at RYSE, where they partnered with the Contra Costa County's District Attorney’s office to implement restorative conferencing with youth who had committed arrestable offenses and minor felonies. Lehidy has worked as a restorative justice facilitator in Central Falls and Providence, RI through the Youth Restoration Project. As the former Dean of Culture for a Denver charter school, they implemented restorative justice in system-wide procedures, created a peer mediation program, and worked with the school network to implement and facilitate diversity, equity and inclusion professional development with staff regarding race, racism, micro/macro aggression and the school to prison pipeline. Lehidy holds a B.A. in Anthropology and Public Health from Brown University, has an initial mastery completion certification for Restorative Justice through the Youth Restoration Project, is a certified mediator and holds a Masters degree in Restorative Justice from Vermont Law School.
