Description

Join us for a casual Happy Hour at The Nest General Store for International Women’s Week from 5:00-6:30pm in downtown Pensacola! We are planning a simple, casual gathering and the chance to meet other women in business. Cocktails/mocktails, wines, coffee, snacks, and light food options are available for attendee purchase and by doing so, we are giving back to another amazing woman-owned business. We are honored to be spotlighting Justine Gudmundson-McCain, the Owner of Bluejay’s Bakery/Collective and The Nest General Store. There will be a short program from Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast and Justine will share some words of wisdom for women in business. Bluejay Bakery focuses solely on wedding cakes while the Collective offers commissary kitchen use to multiple bakers allowing them to streamline and expand their offerings. The Nest General Store is a wine shop, serving coffee, snacks, and light food options. Justine is a huge advocate for supporting women in these industries and does so by creating environments that encourage independence, creativity, and financial opportunities. We are excited to spotlight her at this event! If you haven’t been to The Nest General Store before, they offer quite the variety of unique and mouth-watering items. Created as a sister company to Bluejay’s Bakery, The Nest General Store brings together all the things we Justine personally loves and admires. Their coffee is provided by world-renowned roaster Black and White and the flavorings are all made in house using quality ingredients. Their grocery shop features healthy snacks including cheese, charcuterie, dips, salsas, tapenades, bruschettas, and more. Housemade chips, imported seafood snacks, and pickled vegetables are also available. They provide ready to drink chilled beverages including local sodas, lemonades, and kombuchas, canned natural wines, non-alcoholic mocktails, and juices. And their wine bar boasts a diverse by-the-bottle selection, a classic by-the-glass menu, and a full retail space offering low intervention wines from around the world. Women and men who support women in business are invited! This event is free to attend, however we ask all attendees to purchase while they are there. By spending money with The Nest General Store, we can showcase the huge economic power and important consumer insight women have. Spending money with local women-owned businesses is a great way to support them and help them be more successful. Also, Justine is giving back to Powerful Women 10% of the wine sales during our event for all the female winemakers she has in stock, so you are helping two businesses/organizations when you spend during our event. For International Women’s Day 2023 and beyond, Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast is helping bring awareness to the issues women face in business. Women have made important gains in representation in the last few years. But we're still a long way from equality. Lean In’s research shows that bias contributes to women being passed over for jobs and promotions, and almost 60% of women regularly experience microaggressions at work. Additionally, for many women, finding meaningful support at work is a major challenge. About 20% of women say they’re often the only woman in the room at work. To help combat these issues, Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast is proud to celebrate International Women's Day with a week-long celebration spotlighting local women in business, encouraging positive networking relationships, celebrating locally women-owned restaurants and meeting places, and raising money for Powerful Women. Powerful Women's mission is to promote, advance, and improve women in business. Our goal is to raise the awareness of how many women-owned local restaurants exist in our area as well as raise awareness for women in business. NOTE: This is one of several events in our Mission-Driven Networking Celebration of International Women’s Week celebrating women-owned and women-managed local business and amazing women in business. Please see our website: www.powerfulwomengulfcoast.com for the current list of events. SPONSORSHIPS STILL AVAILABLE: Whether your business is women-owned or not but want to join our cause, you can become a sponsor. Sponsors will have social media exposure as well as logo or business name exposure on our main printed and electronic event flier. Sponsors also receive other recognition. Profits made from these events will go towards our mission of promoting, advancing, and improving women in business. Sponsorship information can be accessed at: https://linktr.ee/pursueyourpassion2020.
