Fire is necessary to stay warm, get dry, cook food, boil water and enjoy a night in the wilderness. Airflow, heat and good fuel are necessary to build and sustain a fire.
This class will begin with an overview of basic fire lay and ignition with an open flame source (lighter or matches). We will spend a day walking through the woods gathering various materials and using several methods to produce a flame through sparks and friction.
Participants will have the opportunity to make charred materials, get a bow drill ember, use knives and ferro rods and limited materials to produce a flame.
No previous experience is necessary, We'll get you spun up.
