Because they don't grow true to seed, apples are propagated by grafting a cutting (scion) to a small, young tree (rootstock). We'll teach you the basics of bench grafting, post-grafting care, and introduce the materials you'll need to graft on your own. Whether you're simply curious or want to start your own home orchard, this is a great first step. You'll get hands on practice and graft your own apple tree to take home! One note: we'll have a few grafting knives available for use, but if you have a very sharp knife, please bring it with you. Also, we don't have any left-handed grafting knives on site.
