The Kinnelon community has a strong tradition of ice hockey excellence with our high school team winning the 2008 state cup and the 2013 Mennan cup. However, the interest in youth hockey has dwindled over the past decade due to rising costs, growth of for-profit travel teams, and lack of sufficient ice time. Today, our current high school team is conjoined with Jefferson and Sparta high school to field a Varsity team. Therefore, we have formed the Kinnelon Youth Hockey Association (KYHA) to improve the accessibility of ice hockey and provide resources including teaching age-appropriate individual and team ice hockey skills with an emphasis on learning and playing the game the right way. We have a mission to find both interested beginner and experienced youth ice hockey players and provide the environment and opportunity to participate in and contribute to the tradition of ice hockey excellence and sportsmanship.
