Through this 3 part class series you will learn how to grow your own quinoa-- from starting seeds, to transplanting, to harvesting, to processing for eating! It is designed for growing quinoa on a small scale and will utilize biointensive methods of gardening as a framework. Class 1: Starting Quinoa From Seed Saturday, April 29th 10am-12pmLearn a little more about quinoa, why we start it from seed, how to start it from seed, and how to care for it until it’s ready to go outside! Class 2: Bed Preparation and Transplanting Quinoa Saturday, May 27th 10am-12pmLearn how to establish an ideal soil structure for your quinoa through bed preparation, and then how to transplant utilizing close plant spacing techniques. This will help you to maximize your plants & seed yields for a small area! Class 3: Harvesting and Processing Quinoa September, Date TBD 10am-12pmLearn about the timing for harvesting quinoa, how to harvest quinoa, how to clean the seeds, and how to prepare it for eating! This series will take place in person at Meadow Farm Community Land Trust in Fort Bragg. By being a part of this series you will be growing quinoa alongside others, have access to advice throughout the whole growing process, and receive seeds to get started! The cost is $50.00 for the series, or $20.00 for individual classes.
