Help out during the busiest time of the year at the El Paso Zoo! Choose the day you would like to volunteer. Each day we have 10 spots, don’t miss out this opportunity. You can sign up for multiple days or just one *you will need to register separately for each day. The activity will be assigned randomly depending on the needs of the zoo. Once you sign up we will send volunteers an email with details of what you need to know before arrival. First 25 volunteers to sign up will get a free Strive T-Shirt. Monday-Friday (10am-2pm) See Like a Meerkat- Located under our Giraffe Hut in the Africa section Guests of all ages will use binoculars to find hidden birds out in the Africa. Jaguar jump! - located inside our Chihuahuan Desert exhibit (Lobo vista Classroom) Guests will see how high they can jump and if they can jump as high as a jaguar. (Jaguars can jump up to 10ft!) Tree Challenge- Located near our Koi pond in Asia Guests will cross a tree path and learn how palm oil is destroying the rainforest, and how this impacts arboreal animals like Orangutans. So as they cross the stepping stones, we will periodically remove a stone to represent the destruction of the rainforest. Eventually, guests will not be able to cross the path. Tuesday and Thursdays (10am-2pm) T-Shirt repurposing activity - Located inside our event tent in Africa Guests will take a donated t-shirt and turn it into a dog or cat toy and take it home! Learn about fashion waste and how to up-cycle clothing Saturdays and Sundays (10am-2pm) ALL inside the event tent in Africa Conservation Game Guests will learn about the different conservation efforts the Zoo supports. Desert Landscape Activity Guests will find hidden animals inside a desert landscape Palm Oil Activity Guests will learn what products contain palm oil and ones that done and how it affects our environment.
