Sports Portraiture with Robert Seale, Canon, and Profoto At the morning lecture, Robert will discuss creative lighting techniques, making the best of any location, and posing for dramatic effect. During the afternoon workshop, Robert will first demonstrate these techniques before participants will have an opportunity to put them into practice for themselves. Robert and a representative from Profoto will be available to offer guidance. A representative from Canon will have gear to loan including camera bodies and lenses. Concepts Covered • Light Management – Optimal aperture, shutter speed and ISO setting for entry level to professional cameras • Capabilities of the Camera – Lesser known optimization setting for high-speed, low-light photography • Limits of Lenses – Compatibility of cameras and lenses • Setting up the Shot – Composition, protocols and shooting locations for nine popular sport • Lessons from the Field – How to building relationships and credibility • After the Whistle – Post-game best practices unique to sports photography • Getting Started Venues – Gaining access and credential to desirable venues • Off-site Field Exercise – Hands-on experience at local multi-sports youth athletic facility • Feedback on Exercise Images – Instructor feedback on student field exercise work products Supplies Needed • Note-taking supplies • Camera and lenses • Fully charged camera battery • Empty memory card • Monopod About the Instructor Robert Seale is an award-winning Houston commercial photographer who creates heroic portraits and other memorable photography and video. Robert is known for his technical ability, graphic eye, photographic lighting skills, and visual problem solving. His editorial credits include Sports Illustrated, ESPN The Magazine, Men’s Health, SLAM, Businessweek, Guideposts, Forbes, Fortune, Barron’s, GOLF Magazine, Smithsonian, Air & Space, AARP, The New York Times Magazine, and over 200 covers of The Sporting News. He is currently on the board of HCP (Houston Center for Photography), and is a longtime member of ASMP (American Society of Media Photographers), and APA (American Photographic Artists). Class & Event Cancellations Tier 1: Standard Classes If you register for a tier 1 class and do not show up, your payment will be forfeited. You can reschedule a class only if notice is given 24 hours before the start time of the class. Unless otherwise stated, class refunds are only issued to customers that provide notice to the store that they would like a refund 48 hours before the class. Refunds will not be issued to customers who sign up for a class but fail to attend. Minimum Enrollment Each class needs a minimum number of students to enroll before the class can “make.” If the minimum enrollment has not been met two business days before the class begins, the class will be cancelled. All students who enrolled in the class will be notified by telephone or email, and may transfer to a different class or be issued a refund (see refund procedure). We encourage all students to enroll as soon as registration begins. Please check your phone and email messages, including your SPAM. Free Basic Digital Photography Class If you sign up for the Basic Digital Photography class with a coupon code and do not show up for the class, your class will be forfeited and you will not be permitted to reschedule. Class cancellations or requests to be rescheduled that are sent through other channels, such as Facebook or Meetup.com messages, will not be honored. Please note that class refunds are only issued during business hours, Monday through Friday.
