The first training will be held in-person from 6 to 8 p.m. on May 17 at Pybus Public Market, 3 N. Worthen St. Wenatchee. The second training will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on June 14 via Zoom. Both sessions will be facilitated and taught by consultants Nancy Bacon and Roo Ramos (for more, see below). Workshop participants will learn how to: Involve an organization’s leadership in the effort;Evaluate an organization’s practices and develop shared definitions within that organization;Connect equity to an organization’s mission and vision;Create systems to improve equity and accessibility;Support employees from diverse backgrounds;Measure progress and be accountable. Eligibility: Open to all organizations engaged in North Central Washington life. Participants should be in some level of leadership in their own organization, have background knowledge of DEI, and be interested in establishing a sense of belonging and connection within their own organization. Capacity: There is space for 25 participants (no more than two participants from an single organization) Cost: $70 per person. Limited scholarships are available. Schedule: Wednesday, May 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. (in person) at the Pybus Public Market Board RoomWednesday, June 14, from 6 to 7 p.m., via Zoom Facilitators: Nancy Bacon is a Spokane teacher, instructional designer, and learning strategist who has worked for more than 25 years in the nonprofit sector. She has designed learning tools used in communities across Washington state that move people and organizations to action. She holds bachelor’s degrees in German Literature and Economics from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, and a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Washington. Roo Qallaq Ramos is Iñupiaq (Alaska Native) who has spent most of her career in the nonprofit world working on racial equity. In 2020, she opened her own consulting firm called Redfox Consulting to help organizations across the spectrum build their cultural and racial awareness. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Native American Studies and a master’s degree in Healthcare Management from the University of Montana.
