See the Civil War through a completely new lens as author Dorothy Wickenden joins us for a discussion of her book The Agitators, which shares the partnership between Harriet Tubman, Martha Wright, and Frances Seward. Together, these women worked the Underground Railroad, championed abolition and women’s rights, and changed the trajectory of the United States in a second American Revolution. The Star Tribune says, “So much of what convulsed the country in the 19th century remains with us: mob violence, virulent racism and an appalling disregard for human dignity. But there's another message: People of fierce and heartfelt principles can bend history to their will.”
The author will join the discussion via Zoom; participants may choose to meet on Zoom or in person at the Depot.
Doors will open at 6:30 PM for refreshments; the book chat begins at 7:00 PM.
