Basic Information Interested in learning more about decorated sugar cookies?! Frosted Saguaro is here to help! In this 1.5-hour class, we'll cover the basics of sugar cookies (so – yes, it's beginner friendly!), do some piping practice with royal icing, talk about how to strategize the best ways to decorate sugar cookies, and cover the general concepts around dough and icing! Everything you need to be successful will be provided, along with a live in-person instructor – just bring a smile (and maybe an apron). We'll be decorating with a fun spring theme – from worms (don't worry – these you'll want to eat) and flowers, birds, and rain boots – you'll love gettin' your feet wet in this sugary garden with me! You'll leave class with a great understanding of the basics of sugar cookies, plus a few cool techniques we'll cover in class! More details on refunds, things to bring, credits, and FAQs are below - looking forward to having you with us. More About This Class This class is for the beginner cookier or someone just looking for fun on a Saturday morning! Whether you have limited experience with sugar cookies, have found yourself frustrated with royal icing, or are trying to have fun with family or friends, this class is for you! We will do a fun spring theme set that tastes amazing and will look even better once you've completed your decorating! We provide everything you need from cookies, icing, sprinkles, and a box to take your fabulous creations home in - we just need YOU! Each student gets six cookies, four icing colors, sprinkles, and all the tools necessary to knock this cookie class out of the park! Everything is prepped before class – so no baking or icing mixing is required. Just decorate! This class is on March 25, 2023, starting at 10:00 am and ending at 11:30 am sharp, so we can have enough time to decorate and answer along the way. Feel free to come alone, bring a friend, or the kids - we have seating for up to 12 people! It'll be a blast whether you're coming solo or bringing your best friend! This class is suitable for ages 12 and up, but if you'd like to leave the kiddos at home, purchase an add-on kit (more on that below)! The kits are great for kids at home, plus - we'll send you the class presentation so you can teach them yourself! The class is at the Heroes Regional Park Library in Glendale, Arizona, located at 6075 N. 83rd Ave., Glendale, AZ. 85303. Nervous about the parking situation? Don't be! Parking is easy - there is onsite parking at the library. Frequently Asked Questions What will I be doing in the class? Besides having the most fun ever? We will review the basics of royal icing and decorating sugar cookies. You will decorate your own set of six cookies. In this class, you will decorate a worm, rainboot, bird, birdhouse, watering can, and a daisy. Can I purchase an additional take-home kit? Yes! Many parents or practicing cookiers purchase additional class kits to take home and re-do the classes. You can buy an add-on kit during check-out. Your kit will be available at the end of your class - so don't forget it! If you're skipping class and just ordering the kit – swing by anytime during class to sneak in and pick it up – it'll be labeled with your name! Do I need to know how to bake? Nope! No baking history is required. We will have the cookies pre-made for you and the icing already mixed and colored. Have a little decorating experience under your belt… er… apron? Come on too! I can help with questions on icing mixing and dough spread! What will we learn in class? You'll learn what goes into preparing royal icing and the value of different icing consistencies – we'll touch on tips and tricks to make your cookies look even better than they taste (and they taste good)! Depending on the class theme, you'll also learn different decorating techniques such as marbling, outlining, wet-on-wet, brush embroidery, and painting. Or hey – go off script and make your own designs – it's your class! What do I need to bring? Nothing but a smile! All necessary materials will be provided, including my (rather tasty) sugar cookies. All you need to do is join us and have fun! Messy decorator? You can bring an apron or wear easy-to-wash clothing. There is a presentation for reference, so if you wear glasses, we'd encourage you to bring them. Oh – and bring your phone – I love photos! What age is best for cookie classes? Our classes are for almost any age! From youngsters to grandparents - come on in and have some cookie fun with us! Our in-person classes are great for any age; however, kiddos under 12 also need a parent to take the class. If you think your child may be too young to enjoy the in-person class, purchase an additional take-home kit! We'll send you the class presentation, and you can teach your kids in the comfort of your own home. Can just my child take the class? We ask that all parents attend classes with their children under 12. For children over 12, you can drop off your child to take the class and return to pick-up in 1.5 hours. A parent must also purchase a ticket and take the class - but I promise you this - it's super fun for all involved! Due to space restrictions, we do not have room for parents to stand by and watch their children in the class. So, unfortunately, your adorable kiddo cannot take the class alone. What will I bring home? By the end of the class, you will have created a set of gorgeous cookies ready to dry in a box for 24 - 48 hours. And, of course, you'll have new skills, memories, and fun! I'll send you an Amazon link with a list of the tools we used in class so that you can recreate these cookies at home. Can I sign up as an individual or as a group? You can sign up as an individual, with a friend, or as a whole group. The more, the merrier! We are limited to twelve seats per class, so definitely sign up ASAP! Where are the classes located? This class will be held at Heroes Regional Park Library in Glendale, Arizona - that address is 6075 N. 83rd Ave., Glendale, AZ. 85303. What happens if I purchase a ticket but can't attend class? We understand that life happens, so we allow you to cancel up to seven days before the class. Any cancelation after seven days will be a class credit redeemable for up to one year from the credit issue date. You can always transfer your spot to a friend, though (and what a nice friend you are). Things to Bring What should you need to bring to have a successful time decorating? Well – nothing's required – but here is what we recommend if you'd like to elevate your experience! Bring an apron! Things can get messy when you're workin' with royal icing – so grab an apron (bonus points if it's cute – I'll definitely be asking where you got it).Bring your glasses! There's a reference slide deck to help you decorate, but seeing glasses may be a great bet if things get blurry far away. Bring your phone! I love it when students take pictures throughout class – so bring a phone!Bring a mask if you'd like! These classes follow the state health guidelines, but if you'd like to wear a mask throughout class – please do!Bring a good attitude! Cookies are fun, but they're also challenging! A good attitude makes all the difference.More About Me! Who doesn't love getting out and doing something fun while eating delicious cookies!? That's what Frosted Saguaro is all about! My name is Jessica Gensel, and I own Frosted Saguaro. I have been baking for 20 years and love sharing my treats with others. I am also a teacher and love being able to pass on my knowledge to other people. When I am not teaching 6th-graders math, I teach people about cookies. Frosted Sagauro is a new bakery specializing in custom cupcakes, gourmet cookies, and floral decorated cakes. While I don't sell custom cookies, I love teaching cookie decorating classes. Cookie decorating classes are a great way to get creative, have fun, and have an excuse to eat cookies! These classes are based in Glendale and cater to beginner cookiers or people just looking to have fun learning a new skill. Whether you want a fun date, a girls-or-guys-day-out, or want to explore what cookie decorating is on your own - we have a seat for you! Oh yeah - I have classes throughout the year which highlight different themes, so make sure to sign up for our newsletter so you can get in on the cookie action! Important Information/ Policies Cancellation/ Refund Policy We understand that life happens, so we allow you to cancel up to seven days before the class. Any cancelation after seven days will be a class credit redeemable for up to one year from the credit issue date. You can always transfer your spot to a friend, though (and what a nice friend you are). If I do not hear from you before your class's start time, and you do not show up, I won't be able to offer you a refund or a credit even if you're sick. So please reach out before class if you're feeling sick! DIY/ Add-on Kits Order your sugar cookie class kit and take the class home with you to teach a child or friend! These class kits come with everything you'll use in class, and I'll email you the class PowerPoint so you can follow our step-by-step instructions from home! The Spring Fun DIY Kits are baked and assembled before your class; you'll pick them up and take them after class. How long will a kit last? Your kits will last for one week after the cookie decorating class. If you freeze your cookies and icing, the kits will last up to three months. I recommend using your kits as soon as possible - ideally within the first day or so of taking them home. Cookies are heat-sealed for freshness - but again, decorate and eat your cookies in under a week for the best results. Allergens Heads up – these cookies include the following ingredients: all-purpose flour, unsalted butter, granulated sugar, powdered sugar, meringue powder, vanilla extract, and salt. These products are produced in a home kitchen that may process common food allergens and are not subject to public health inspection. Please consider your allergies before registering. Class Cancellation Policy Classes may be canceled at my discretion, the event host. This rarely happens – but in that extremely rare event that it does, you'll receive a 100% refund, including your Eventbrite fees. If a class has less than twelve students enrolled, I will cancel the class. Don't be sad! You can get a class credit for a future class (along with my apologies) or a full refund! I'll let you know if your class has low attendance five days before the event is canceled so you can bring a friend (hint hint) or find other plans for that day. Eventbrite Fees Your ticket price includes your ticket fees; however, Eventbrite does not refund its fees. If you cancel your ticket and request a refund before the cancelation window expires, I'll happily give you a refund less the Eventbrite fee – since I don't get this fee back either. Eventbrite keeps it regardless of whether you show up or cancel. I know – I hate it too!
