Description

Want to be greener at home but don't know where to start? Come to the Patchogue Eco Fair at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts where you will gain the skills and tools to make small changes at home that have a big impact on the environment! The Eco Fair will have educational materials about zero waste practices, planting with native species and supporting native pollinators, minimizing storm water run-off and pollution from getting into local waterways, promoting green energy like solar power programs, and many others. In order to have a true impact on the environment and our community, the Eco Fair will go beyond education and have free giveaways that support these topics, including reusable products, Scott’s Long Island fertilizer (specifically made for the coastal environment), native plants and seeds by local native nurseries, rain barrels for home gardens, and more. Vendors, including other environmental non-profits and small businesses that support pollution prevention and environmental initiatives, will be providing educational materials and products. SIGN UP on Eventbrite to register for the free giveaways! Most items are one per household. MAIN ST. CLEANUP! A Main St. Clean Up will be hosted at the Patchogue-Medford Library across the street from the Eco Fair where families can help keep Patchogue clean. Supplies will be provided and volunteers can get community service hours. KISS THE GROUND MOVIE AND PANEL DISCUSSION! Plaza Cinema and Media Arts Center at 20 Terry St, Patchogue, NY 11772 will host a viewing of "Kiss the Ground," an inspiring and groundbreaking film that reveals the first viable solution to our climate crisis. Afterwards, there will be a panel discussion related to Long Island's environmental future. The Eco Fair is being hosted by the Protecting the Environment in Patchogue (PEP) Committee and the Greater Patchogue Foundation in partnership with the Patchogue-Medford Library, St. Joseph's College, Citizens Campaign for the Environment, and the Village of Patchogue, and supported by the NYS Pollution Prevention Institute.
