Our event is in Monmouth, IL founded in 1831. Did you know the land where the town was established was given to a soldier as payment for service in the war of 1812. The unlucky soldier lost his claim in a poker game to a plantation owner from Tennessee named John Talbot, who became the first settler of Monmouth. When in Monmouth you are in a place a couple famous people called home, namely the legendary lawman Wyatt Earp and former president Ronald Reagan. President Reagan was a Citizen Soldier in the US Army Reserves. Later as California Governor he was the Commander in Chief of the California National Guard. Then as US President, the Commander in Chief of the US Armed Foorces.
