Description

Ned Fritz Legacy is proud to partner with KERA to present Living With The Trinity, a documentary detailing the late '60s/early '70s plans to straighten and channelize the Trinity River to create a barge canal. Proposed to run from Fort Worth to the Gulf of Mexico, the creation of a canal meant that DFW could claim to be an inland port—250 miles from the sea. It all hinged on a March 13, 1973 bond election 50 years ago. Written and directed by Rob Tranchin and edited by Ginny Martin, the 2009 film brings to life how a remarkable coalition organized by Ned Fritz—environmentalists, academics, fiscal conservatives, communities of color, and more—overcame significant odds to defeat the $1.2 billion project which had generous federal funding and broad business and political support. 5 to 6 pm ~ Networking Social: downstairs café6 to 6:30 pm ~ Meet & Greet: upstairs lobby 6:30 to 7:45 pm ~ Screening 7:45 pm to 8:30 ~ Panel discussion on the future of the Trinity Details below.
