Description

Saturday April 1, 2023 from 2 to 4 pm. Please join us for a Fundraiser at RE/MAX Advantage Realty in Eldersburg, Maryland. Come see and hear the magic of April M Rimpo's artwork and the creative genius of the award-winning poets from Ellicott City Poetry and prose. Rimpo's art has been published in 5 books and one Special Edition Splash 21 Winners: The Best of Watercolor, presented by Watercolor Magazine. Her art has been on exhibit in over 80 national and international exhibitions since starting to exhibit in 2012. To kick off the event, April Rimpo will share stories behind some of her artwork and invite you to consider which painting reminds you of a great time in your life. It is your memories and emotional response to art that creates moments never to be forgotten. Several poets from EC Poetry & Prose (ECPP) will read new work written in response to April's artwork. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the Silent Auction of Rimpo's artwork to help raise funds, meet the artist and poets, enjoying refreshments, network with like-minded people, and browse and purchase books by the poets including "Portraits of Life: An Ekphrastic Anthology." This book is the culmination of an event held in November 2022 where the ECPP poets and other award-winning poets shared their interpretations of April and a friend, Elaine Weiner-Reed's artwork. As Patti Ross put it in her Introduction to this anthology, "Ekphrasitc poetry is as individual as the brush strokes of a painting." 35% of the final bid is donated to Maryland Food Bank and to EC Poetry & Prose. About 3:30 bidding will end. We'll prepare paintings so you can carry them home at the end of the event. If you have never experienced an ekphrastic event, you will love it. Their interpretations of my art are always so meaningful. Don't miss this event. Our thanks to RE/MAX Advantage for offering a space to share my artwork, sponsoring this event, and providing beverages and snacks. Don't miss the video (below) of April creating, "A Heavy Load," one of the paintings included in the Silent Auction. Shown above, "Serenity Found," is included in the Silent Auction in the Edlersburg office. Her art has been included in over 80 National and International exhibitions gaining her Signature Status in seven watercolor societies, the International Society of Acrylic Painters, and the International Society of Experimental Art. Her art has been published in 4 books and one Special Edition Splash 21 Winners : The Best of Watercolor, presented by Watercolor Magazine. Her work is in collections across the United States. She works in watercolor and fluid acrylic. One unique aspect of her watermedia paintings is that they are often framed without Plexiglas™ or gallery wrapped so you see the image around the sides of the painting. She is able to do this because she varnishes much of her artwork. This presentation makes your viewing experience much more intimate. All materials used by April Rimpo are archival, allowing them to last for years to come. The varnish also provides UV protection and resistance to the environment. Using this display approach her work survived the 2018 flood in Ellicott City with no damage.
