On June 29th 2021 Sgt. MacDouglas John Deegan succumbed to the pressure and anxieties of PTSD and took his own life. As a Tabbed and Scrolled Army Ranger, Mac strived for excellence thru hard work and determination. Stop Soldier Suicide is a non-profit organization that works to prevent suicide among current and former servicemembers and veterans. The organization offers a variety of services to help veterans in need, including 24/7 crisis intervention, financial assistance, and mental health services. Stop Soldier Suicide also works to raise awareness about suicide prevention through public education campaigns and events. Zac started the fundraising efforts by swimming 25 miles in June of 2022 for a fundraiser for Stop Soldier Suicide; and was able to become a top fundraiser for that particular challenge. Now, joining forces with his Cousin Cameron, and with the assistance of Mrs. Schaefer; the team looks to expand on efforts of supporting the cause that could have potentially helped MacDouglas. The goal for all is to prevent other families from dealing with the loss their family has had to endure. Anyone who knew Mac also would know he was very competitive, so what better way to incorporate ways to raise funds than a competition!
