Friends of the Harborwalk: Boston's Imports and Exports Lecture

Kids

70 Rowes Wharf,Boston MA 02110

18 March, 2023

Description

Unlike in the past, today's activities around Boston Harbor are unseen by most Bostonians but they should not be forgotten as Boston Harbor remains a huge driver for the region’s economy. The presentation will look at how the bustle of Boston Harbor was very much integrated into city life, even until relatively recently. Changes in modes of transport by sea, land, and air have wrought huge changes in how we import and export. The talk will include various port centers around Boston Harbor today and their economic importance. The talk will take place in the Leventhal Center Room at the Boston Harbor Hotel - located at 70 Rowes Wharf. The Leventhal Center Room is accessible by walking through the hotel's large exterior arch, turning left, and using the doors on the left. (The room is not accessible from the lobby or the interior of the Boston Harbor Hotel.) The Friends of the Boston Harborwalk is a volunteer group affiliated with Boston Harbor Now. The group meets monthly to create awareness, promote public enjoyment, and foster local stewardship of Boston’s 43-mile Harborwalk. For more information on membership, please contact Mike Manning, Chair, at mmanning@bostonharbornow.org
