Endometriosis Awareness Walk

25 March, 2023

Description

This is a new initiative to raise awareness, show support, and provide educational resources for women with endometriosis and those whose lives it's touched. This will be a short 1/2 of a mile through Joe W Brown park. You can walk, run, or bike if you'd like. There will be fitness activities, music, and refreshments. Wearing the color yellow is highly encouraged. Endometriosis occurs when tissue resembling the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, attaching itself to other pelvic and abdominal organs, causing scarring, lesions, adhesions, cysts, and frequent pain. Statistics about this common health problem for women are often underestimates because many women are not getting accurately diagnosed. Researchers think that at least 11% of women, or more than 6 ½ million women in the United States, have endometriosis. We are so grateful for your inspiring participation and solidarity, and for coming together as a strong and compassionate community. This is not a fundraiser, however, #ENDOBLACK is the selected charity we ask you to support. Learn more about endometriosis and donate here: https://www.endoblack.org/giving
