Each year Tennessee Tree Day engages thousands of volunteers in a fun, meaningful, family-friendly event that results in multi-generational benefits to our environment, communities, and public health.
Over two days, Clean Memphis will distribute over 200 native trees (tree saplings) to residents and community groups in Shelby County and the surrounding areas. The tree saplings include Elderberry (edible berry bush), Persimmon, Indigo Bush, Buttonbush, Wild Plum, Eastern Redbud, Flowering Dogwood, and general canopy trees (Oak, Poplar, etc). You must register to receive free tree seedlings.
As soon as you register for this event, you will receive an email with a link to a form so that you can indicate your preferred tree types.
Opportunities to pick up trees are on Friday, March 17, 3 PM - 5 PM and Saturday, March 18, 9 AM - 12 PM. Refreshments will be available, as well as tree-planting guides, free compost soil, and other resources and tools.

More about Tennessee Environmental Council
Since 2007, Tennessee Tree Day events have mobilized almost 79,000 Tennessee residents to plant 822,860 native trees in Tennessee and surrounding states.
Tennessee Tree Day 2022 involved many stakeholder groups and thousands of volunteers. Some planted trees to replace those lost to development. Others planted trees to help to repair degraded streams and improve water quality or to increase habitat for wildlife and pollinators, and some planted trees for purely aesthetic reasons. No matter the reason, all trees planted will improve the health of our environment by reducing air pollution and enhancing Tennessee's magnificent tree canopy.
TEC hopes participation in Tree Day instills public awareness of the value of trees while nurturing a culture of sustainability in our region.
