Description

Be part of a different kind of conversation as we explore together in this week’s discussion the importance of developing daily spiritual habits including prayer and meditation as a way of living a meaningful life. A familiar concept to most, some version of prayer can be found in most religions, faith traditions and spiritual practices. Even amongst those who wouldn’t necessarily consider themselves religious, many still find themselves turning to some form of prayer in moments of crisis – seemingly instinctually recognizing the power of prayer, of connecting to a higher power and of prayer’s ability to draw us closer to that power. Drawing on themes found in the first book of the Ruhi Institute’s “Reflections on the Life of the Spirit” please join us for a lively discussion as we explore the significance of prayer and cultivating its daily practice. Come explore with us the spiritual perspective offered by the Bahá’í Teachings on the central role of prayer in our growth as individuals as well as a collective community as we learn together and search for the truths that unite us all. *The Ruhi Institute seeks to build capacity in individuals and in communities to serve humanity. Through a series of free courses, this program seeks to enhance the spiritual growth of individuals as we look to build the skills and attitudes necessary to bring about individual and collective transformation. The next three series of topics explored in Meaningful Conversations will draw on some of the popular themes found in this series of courses. “I beseech Thee…to make of my prayer a fire that will burn away the veils which have shut me out from Thy beauty, and a light that will lead me unto the ocean of Thy Presence.” – Bahá’í Teachings *** This event is free and open to all regardless of background or belief. Donations will not be accepted. Note: The organizers of this event strive to welcome all, including those accompanied by youth and children.
