Bloom inWord is a project near and dear to my heart. I first started writing poetry in 6th grade as an assignment and it turned into my lifeline. It became my outlet and my safe space. Over the years I've written close to 100 pieces on anything I could get my hands on. Poetry has been instrumental in my healing, self-discovery, and transformational journey. I have doubted sharing my work, I have second guessed releasing my work, I have questioned the quality of my work but what continues to come to mind is that just as I have questioned my work...I have questioned myself...and what this celebration represents is my enoughness! My work is enough and I am enough. I didn't write my poems with the intention of one day sharing them with the world...I wrote them through some of the most trying times of my life. I wrote them instead of _____________. I wrote them to unwind. I wrote them to become free. And now I share them for 'her'. I don't know exactly who 'her' is. Yet I know that when she picks up this book she will feel like someone sees and hears her...she will feel like she is not alone. I am launching this book on my birthday because this is my moment! This celebration is what has been waiting for me on the other side of my storms, tears, and fight to be here today.
