This presentation is intended to provide a brief introduction into the wide variety of issues in family court, either for new practitioners or non-family law practitioners, and to address some frequently asked questions during consultations or topics commonly Googled by pro se litigants and non-family law attorneys. We will touch on Wisconsin’s community property law, enforceability of marital property agreements, basics of the divorce process, legal bases for granting an annulment, procedures in paternity actions and standards in post-judgment matters. Topics will be presented to the audience in an interactive “Jeopardy” style format, to (hopefully) keep people engaged. About Our SpeakervAnnMarie Sylla: AnnMarie Sylla is a family law attorney and shareholder at Schott, Bublitz & Engel, S.C. in Waukesha. AnnMarie graduated law school from New England School of Law in Boston in 2013. She is currently the President of the Waukesha County Bar Association and is in her 2nd term as Governor of District 6 for the State Bar of Wisconsin Board of Governors. AnnMarie is a frequent mentor, as she is passionate about helping young attorneys and law students find an adequate support system within the legal profession so they can make informed choices as they progress in their careers. Outside of practicing, AnnMarie enjoys spending time with her husband and 9.5 year old Golden Retriever, theater, traveling and DIY refinishing projects.
