Hydroponics (growing plants without a traditional dirt medium using a nutrient-rich water system) can grow great-tasting plants quickly, with more nutrients, in less space, using less water. Learn to create a connected system to help you control and monitor your plants using inexpensive and easy-to-use Arduino microcontrollers In this 4-hour, 1-day class you will: Program in CDetect soil moisture and adjust itDetect humidity and adjust itDetect temperature and adjust itDetect light and adjust itPrerequisites: None, this is an intro class Bring a laptop with the free program Arduino IDE installed. Cost of class includes all hardware needed. Instructor bio: Tony Baltazar ([email protected]) has been teaching Arduino and related classes for 4 years. He has made my projects using Arduino including a garden management system, a boat race timer, color changing light sabers and many more awesome things. Important Information  COVID-19: Too keep everyone safe; masks and social distancing are highly recommended at Makerspace. Maximum class size has been reduced to allow for social distancing. Ages: 16 and up Class fees: All class fees include materials. If you are a current Bellingham Makerspace member or scheduled volunteer you may select the discounted member registration. The financially challenged are encouraged to request a 50% off, no questions asked, scholarship discount. Simply email the request to the instructor. Volunteers may be eligible for training discounts. Cancellations: All classes have a minimum number of participants. If the instructor specified number is not reached 24hrs before the class is scheduled to start, the class will be cancelled and any registrations refunded (Eventbrite fees are non refundable). Refund policy: You may request a refund from Eventbrite no later than 24hrs before the class starts (Eventbrite fees are non refundable).
