Description
The Board of Seacoast Youth Services would like to invite you and your friends to a night of fun, as well as some good old fashion fundraising to support our agency's work. There will be good food, drinks, entertainment, and some great silent and live auction items! The theme this year is 70's Disco! Get your bell bottoms out! When: Saturday, May 13th, 2023 - Doors open at 5:30pm Where: The Brook, Seabrook, NH Why: Teens need our help, and WE NEED YOUR HELP! It is no secret that youth are struggling. In 2021 nearly 60% of surveyed teen girls felt persistently sad or hopeless and surveyed boys were 30%. One in three girls reported seriously considering suicide, up 60% from a decade ago. Across the board, teens report increased mental health challenges, experiences of violence, and suicidal thoughts and behavior. Last year alone, over 500 adolescents in New Hampshire needed residential care. Many were sent to Alabama, Tennessee, or other out-of-state facilities because NH does not have the capacity to meet the need. Teenagers in America are in crisis. Who we are: SYS currently offers four (4) services to our catchment area. Our catchment area includes Rockingham and Strafford Counties and parts of Southern Maine and Essex County, Mass. We are a contracted community-based service provider for DCYF and Juvenile Justice. Goals of this service are to: • Ensure the safety of children, families, and communities. • Improve interpersonal relationships and communication within families. • Reduce the recurrence of juvenile delinquent offenses and prevent the placement of a child in out of home care. Our community-based clinicians meet with the family and client multiple times a week for both individual and family therapy, as well as case management, and pro-social engagement. In addition to community-based services, SYS provides the only Intensive Outpatient Program for adolescents with co-occurring diagnoses. This is a 10-week/4 days per week program. In addition to the IOP, SYS provides a less intense substance misuse program for high schoolers as well as typical outpatient services for teens. Our programs strive to keep kids in their homes, schools, and communities.
